Japanese crude steel output down 9.5 percent in April from March

In April this year, Japanese crude steel production was down 9.5 percent compared to the previous month, while it decreased by 6.1 percent compared to April 2014, totaling 8.4 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
 
Meanwhile, in April Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.4 million metric tons, decreasing by 10.4 percent compared to the previous month and falling by 3.1 percent year on year.

In the first four months of the current year, the country's pig iron output stood at 26.94 million metric tons, down 0.7 percent, while its crude steel production came to 35.15 million metric tons, falling 5.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
