In September this year, Japanese crude steel production was down by 4.4 percent compared to the previous month and fell by 2.4 percent compared to September last year, totaling 8.4 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in September of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.26 million metric tons, decreasing by 7.2 percent compared to the previous month and declining by 1.8 percent year on year.
In the January-September period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 52.54 million metric tons, down 0.4 percent, while its crude steel production came to 78.61 million metric tons, rising 0.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
