Japanese auto output up 0.3 percent in January-June

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in June this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 822,272 units, falling by 4.4 percent compared to the same month of 2017. Meanwhile, in the January-June period of 2018, Japanese automobile production increased by 0.3 percent year on year to 4,859,901 units.

Domestic automobile sales in June this year in Japan stood at 453,765 vehicles, down five percent as compared with the same month of 2017. Meanwhile, in the January-June period of this year domestic automobile sales in Japan decreased by 1.8 percent year on year to 2,732,478 units.

In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in June amounted to 412,156 units, down by 3.1 percent year on year. In the first half of this year, Japanese automobile exports increased by 6.8 percent year on year to 2,381,556 mt.
