According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in April this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 777,670 units, rising by 3.8 percent compared to the same month of 2017. Meanwhile, in the January-April period of 2018, Japanese automobile production increased by 0.6 percent year on year to 3,312,413 units.
Domestic automobile sales in April this year in Japan stood at 366,156 vehicles, up 3.2 percent as compared with the same month of 2017. Meanwhile, in the January-April period of this year domestic automobile sales in Japan decreased by 1.3 percent year on year to 1,906,849 units.
In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in April amounted to 432,137 units, up by 16.2 percent year on year. In the first four months of 2018, Japanese automobile exports increased by 9.5 year on year to 1,624,525 mt.
