Japanese auto output down 7.6 percent in Q1

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in March this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 828,702 units, falling by eight percent compared to the same month of 2019. Meanwhile, in the January-March period of the year, Japanese automobile production decreased by 7.6 percent year on year to 2,360,178 units.

Domestic automobile sales in March this year in Japan stood at 581,438 vehicles, declining by 9.3 percent as compared with the same month of 2019. Meanwhile, in the first three months of this year domestic automobile sales in Japan fell by 10.2 percent year on year to 1,371,726 units.

In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in March amounted to 379,956 units, down by 12.2 percent year on year. In the first quarter of the year, Japanese automobile exports decreased by 8.6 percent year on year to 1,108,366 mt.
