Japanese auto output down 7.4 percent in January-February

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in February this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 762,315 units, falling by 3.5 percent compared to the same month of 2019. Meanwhile, in the January-February period of the year, Japanese automobile production decreased by 7.4 percent year on year to 1,531,476 units.

Domestic automobile sales in February this year in Japan stood at 360,103 vehicles, declining by 11.7 percent as compared with the same month of 2019. Meanwhile, in the January-February period this year domestic automobile sales in Japan fell by 11 percent year on year to 790,288 units.

In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in February amounted to 334,800 units, down by 7.6 percent year on year. In the first two months, Japanese automobile exports decreased by 6.6 percent year on year to 728,410 mt.
