Japanese auto output down 16.9 percent in January-April

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in April this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 438,770 units, falling by 46.1 percent compared to the same month of 2019. Meanwhile, in the January-April period of the year, Japanese automobile production decreased by 16.9 percent year on year to 2,798,948 units.

Domestic automobile sales in April this year in Japan stood at 270,393 vehicles, declining by 28.6 percent as compared with the same month of 2019. Meanwhile, in the January-April period this year domestic automobile sales in Japan fell by 13.9 percent year on year to 1,642,119 units.

In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in April amounted to 193,602 units, down by 54.2 percent year on year. In the first four months, Japanese automobile exports decreased by 20.4 percent year on year to 1,301,968 mt.
