According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in September this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 809,884 units, falling by 5.3 percent compared to the same month of 2017. Meanwhile, in the January-September period of 2018, Japanese automobile production decreased by 0.7 percent year on year to 7,165,540 units.
Domestic automobile sales in September this year in Japan stood at 485,377 vehicles, declining by two percent as compared with the same month of 2017. Meanwhile, in the January-September period of this year domestic automobile sales in Japan fell by 0.9 percent year on year to 4,023,606 units.
In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in September amounted to 392,020 units, down by 7.5 percent year on year. In the first nine months of this year, Japanese automobile exports increased by three percent year on year to 3,525,495 mt.
