Japan, Indonesia on verge of FTA
Japan and Indonesia held the third and final round of Free Trade Agreement preparation talks in Tokyo. The two countries have been working on hammering out the scope of agreement since January 2005. Indonesia is expected to eliminate tariffs on vehicles and auto parts, while Japan is expected to remove tariffs on products specific to the forestry and fishing industries. The prime ministers of the two countries plan to start formal talks on the Free Trade Agreement during the 50th Asian-African Conference to be held April 22-23 in Indonesia.
