Italian engineering group Tenova has announced that it has signed a contract with the South Korean steelmaker
Hyundai Steel for the supply of two recovery plants for the two electric arc furnaces at its Incheon plant.
The recovery plants will recover the lost heat caused by off-gases released by the furnaces during the melting process. Industrial steam recovered from the off-gases will be available for applications such as vacuum degassing systems, district heating or power generation.
Tenova stated that the first recovery plant at
Hyundai Steel's 80 mt electric arc furnace will come into operation in August this year, while the other at the 90 mt electric arc furnace is scheduled to be commissioned in March 2013.
