According to the statistics released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in January this year Italy's steel exports to non-EU countries totaled 319,000 metric tons, down by 17.1 percent, while its steel imports from non-EU sources totaled 658,000 metric tons, up 45.3 percent, both compared to the same month 2012.
