Italy’s new car registrations down 4.9 percent in March

Italy's new car registrations amounted to 132,020 units in March this year, down 4.9 percent year on year, according to the Italian automotive industry association Anfia. March witnessed the first single-digit decrease rate since November 2011, i.e., in the last 15 months. In March last year, the year-on-year decrease rate in Italy’s new car registrations reached as high as 26.4 percent.
 
In the first quarter of the current year, Italian new car registrations fell 13 percent to 354,931 units compared to the first three months of 2012, when a strong year-on-year drop of 20.8 percent was recorded.
