Italy’s industrial output index down 6.8 percent in February

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in February this year the seasonally adjusted index of Italian industrial production dipped by 0.7 percent compared to January and by 6.8 percent compared to February 2011 when we consider the data adjusted for calendar effects.

Meanwhile, in the December 2011-February 2012 quarter Italy's industrial production decreased by an average of one percent compared to the preceding three-month period.

In February, the seasonally adjusted index decreased substantially year-on-year in most industrial segments, with a 9.6 percent decrease for consumer goods, a 10.6 percent drop for intermediate goods and a 1.5 percent fall for instrumental goods, while energy rose by 3.3 percent.
