According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in September this year the seasonally adjusted index of Italian industrial production decreased by 4.8 percent compared to August and declined by 2.7 percent compared to September 2010 when we consider the data adjusted for calendar effects.
In the first nine months of 2011, however, the index increased by 1.3 percent compared to January-September 2010.
In September this year, the indexes corrected for calendar effects registered a significant year-on-year growth only for energy production (+6.7 percent). On the other hand, while consumer goods production (-7.1 percent), intermediate goods (-2.5 percent) and capital goods (-0.2 percent) all saw negative trends.
