Italy imposes a new scrap licensing scheme

According to recent news in the market, with the new scrap licensing scheme imposed on November 16, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap deliveries in Italy will encounter obstacles. In line with the new scheme, all scrap is reclassified as waste material and steel mills, smelters and foundries are banned to receive goods classed as waste material. According to the new scheme, to transport and export scrap, permission should be taken. Sources report that the new regulation has been imposed without any warning. Now, Italian steel and non-ferrous metal associations demand government to clarify the subject.
