Vicenza, Italy-based special steel company Acciaierie Valbruna has announced that starting from July 4 a reorganization of its workforce will be implemented at its main facility.
Accordingly, as of Monday there will be a 20 shift per week working schedule, and this is aimed at increasing production efficiency and optimizing the use of equipment.
Accordingly, operations at the plant will be extended to Saturday and Sunday with the hiring of 40 more people.
However, local trade unions have complained about the decision of the company's management to fix Thursday as the only day during the week on which maintenance of equipment will be carried out. In fact, the workers want maintenance works to be spread throughout the week. For this reason, the company's workers have called two-hour strikes for July 1 and July 4.
