Italian industry turnover up 3.4 percent in Dec over Nov

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in December last year Italian industry's turnover was up 3.4 percent month on month and 5.6 percent year on year.

In December, on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy increased 5.8 percent for instrumental goods, 10.6 percent in the energy sector, 0.4 percent for consumer goods and 2.3 for intermediate goods.

With regard to total orders for Italian industry, in December last year there was a month-on-month increase of 5.5 percent and a year-on-year decrease of 4.3 percent.

In the last three months for which figures have been released (October-December 2011), the average Italian industry turnover index value was down 1.2 percent, while the average value of the Italian industry orders index was down 3.9 percent, both compared to the previous three-month period.
