Italian industry turnover up 14.2 percent in April

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in April this year Italian industry increased its turnover by 1.5 percent month on month and by 14.2 percent year on year.  
 
Compared to April 2010, the strongest performances in Italian industry in April this year were observed in cokemaking and oil refining, up 30.1 percent, and in chemical production, up 26.1 percent.

In April on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy rose five percent for machinery, 2.3 percent in the energy sector and 1.6 percent for consumer goods. Among consumer goods, durable goods decreased by three percent, while the turnover index for non-durable goods increased by 2.5 percent. A decrease of one percent month-on-month was registered for intermediate goods.
 
With regard to total orders for Italian industry, in April this year there was a month-on-month decrease of 6.4 percent and a year-on-year increase of 5.8 percent.
