In January this year, Italian producers' crude steel output increased by 5.3 percent year on year to 2,018,000 metric tons, as announced by the Italian steel association Federacciai.
January's output volume is also higher compared to the 1.818 million metric tons recorded in January 2016 and the 1.903 million mt recorded in January 2015, while it is lower compared to the 2.120 million mt recorded in the same month of 2014.
Meanwhile, in 2017 Italy's long steel output amounted to 11.918 million metric tons, increasing by 2.3 percent year on year. In the same period, Italian flat steel output totaled 11.72 million metric tons, decreasing by 2.6 percent year on year.
