Italian crude steel output increases by 3.7 percent in May

In May this year, Italian producers' crude steel output increased by 3.7 percent year on year to 2.180 million metric tons, as announced by the Italian steel association Federacciai.

May's output volume is lower compared to the 2.199 million metric tons recorded in May 2016, higher compared to the 2.001 million mt recorded in May 2015 and lower compared to the 2.290 million mt produced in the same month of 2014.

In the January-May period this year, Italian crude steel output amounted to 10.663 million mt, up 3.9 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the January-April period this year Italy's long steel output amounted to 4.301 million metric tons, increasing by 1.4 percent year on year. In the same period, Italian flat steel output totaled 3.772 million metric tons, decreasing by 0.8 percent year on year.
