Italian crude steel output down 3.5 percent in March

In March this year, Italian producers' crude steel output decreased by 3.5 percent year on year to 2,024,000 metric tons, as announced by the Italian steel association Federacciai.

In the first quarter of the current year, Italian crude steel production amounted to 5.768 million metric tons, down 3.4 percent year on year. Respective year-on-year decreases of 5.1 percent and 1.6 percent were observed in Italian crude steel output in the months of January and February this year.

The March 2016 output figure was also lower than 2.323 million metric tons recorded in March 2014, 2.185 million metric tons in March 2013, 2.699 million metric tons in March 2012 and 2.575 million metric tons in March 2011.
