Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), the steelmaking subsidiaries of the Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), have issued their preliminary production results for the first ten months of the current year.
Accordingly, in January-October 2010 Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) saw its crude steel production decline by 21.5 percent to 2.431 million mt, its finished steel product output dropped by 20.9 percent to 2.252 million mt, its pig iron production fell by 22.4 percent to 2.156 million mt, while its agglomerate production declined by 5.3 percent to 3.596 million mt, all compared to January-October 2009.
In October this year, Alchevsk produced 221,000 mt of crude steel - down 1.8 percent, 193,000 mt of finished steel products - down 16.45 percent, 193,000 mt of pig iron - down one percent, and 307,000 mt of agglomerate - down 12.54 percent, all compared to September.
Meanwhile, during the first ten months of the current year, DMKD registered a 20.5 percent decrease in its crude steel production to 2.264 million mt, a 22.6 percent drop in its finished steel product output to 2.123 million mt, an 18.8 percent fall in its pig iron production to 2.153 million mt, and an 11 percent decrease in its agglomerate output to 3.545 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
In October, DMKD produced 258,000 mt of crude steel - up 11.2 percent, 241,000 mt of finished steel products - up 14.8 percent, 240,000 mt of pig iron - up 12.15 percent, and 405,000 mt of agglomerate - up 17.7 percent, all compared to September this year.
