Iron ore imports to India up 44 percent in FY 2019

According to preliminary customs data, India imported 12.38 million mt of iron ore in FY 2019 ended March 31, 2019, up 44 percent compared to 8.6 million mt of iron ore imported in FY 2018.

India imported 7.20 million mt from Australia, 2.68 million mt from South Africa, 2.06 million mt from Brazil, 0.21 million mt from Iran, 0.17 million mt from Canada, and 0.06 million mt from Malaysia.

JSW Steel imported 8.90 million mt, Vesana Ispat imported 0.49 million, Essar Steel and Jindal SAW each imported 0.41, Goa Sponge imported 0.30 million mt, Swiss Singapore imported 0.29 million mt, Kamachi Group imported 0.26 million mt, and 1.32 million mt imported by others.
