According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in May of the current year iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 38 million metric tons, rising by nine percent compared to the previous month and increasing by 20 percent year on year. South Korea and Japan followed China in May, receiving 2.54 million mt and 2.24 million mt respectively.
