Iron ore exports via Port Hedland up 3.1% in October over September

In October this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland amounted to 37.47 million metric tons, increasing by 3.13 percent compared to September and up 29.5 percent year on year.
 
According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in October iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 31.71 million metric tons, increasing by 6.2 percent compared to September and up 25.85 percent compared to the same month of 2013. South Korea and Japan followed China in October this year, receiving 2.35 million mt and 2.2 million mt respectively.
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
