Iron ore exports via Port Hedland down 2.2 percent in June from May

In June this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland decreased by 2.2 percent compared to May and were up 3.1 percent year on year, totaling 43.08 million metric tons. 

According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in June of the current year iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 36.58 million metric tons, falling by 3.7 percent compared to the previous month and increasing by six percent year on year. South Korea and Japan followed China in June, receiving 3.6 million mt and 1.5 million mt respectively.

Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
