Iran's private steel sector ups production

The head of the Iranian Steel Manufacturers Association (ISMA), Mr. Tagi Bahrami, has announced that the county's privately-owned steel mills produced two million metric tons of finished steel products  in the Iranian year 1385 (21.03.2006-20.03.2007), showing a 70 percent increase compared to the Iranian year ended 20.03.2006. In addition, he predicted that in the current Iranian year the production of finished steel products by privately-owned mills will double.

Mr. Bahrami also stated that during the period in question, Iranian state-owned steel mills produced about 10 million metric tons of finished steel products.
