Intern killed at Nucor’s Tuscaloosa plant

According to local reports, an intern was killed at the Nucor plate mill in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Thursday. The victim, 27-year-old Korey Ryan, was reportedly a student at Shelton State Community College and had been working with Nucor since July.

The company has not released details about the cause or circumstances of Ryan’s death, but Randy Skagen, vice president and general manager of the plant, told reporters that plate finishing operations have been suspended, and the company is working with state and local officials to investigate the incident.
