Industrial capacity utilization in China at 77 percent in 2017

In the fourth quarter of 2017, industrial capacity utilization in China was at 78.0 percent, up 4.2 percentage points year on year, while for the whole year the country's industrial capacity utilization was at 77.0 percent, up 3.7 percentage points year on year, accordingly to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In particular, in the fourth quarter of 2017 the respective capacity utilization rates of the mining industry, manufacturing industry, coal mining and dressing industry, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry and automobile industry were 72.4 percent, 78.5 percent, 70.5 percent, 77.0 percent and 83.6 percent, up 7.6, 4.2, 9.8, 4.0 and 1.6 percentage points year on year, respectively.

Meanwhile, for the full year, the capacity utilization rates of the mining industry, manufacturing industry, coal mining and dressing industry, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry and automobile industry were 71.1 percent, 77.5 percent, 68.2 percent, 75.8 percent and 82.2 percent, up 8.2, 3.6, 8.7, 4.1 and 3.2 percentage points year on year, respectively.
