Indonesia’s steel import value down by almost half in August from July

According to the data announced by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), in August this year Indonesia's steel imports totaled $508.7 million in value, decreasing by 43.5 percent as compared to the previous month, while the country's import value for articles of iron and steel decreased 5.35 percent month on month to $341.3 million.
 
In the first eight months of this year, Indonesia's steel import value came to $6.8 billion, falling 2.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the country's import value for articles of iron and steel amounted to $3.3 billion, up 6.05 percent on year-on-year basis.
