India’s automobile manufacturer Tata Motors Limited has commenced operation of its first vehicle scrapping facility, Re.Wi. Re (Recycle With Respect), located at Jaipur in Rajasthan state, a company statement said on Tuesday, February 28.
The company said that the facility has the capacity to scrap 15,000 units per year of end-of-life passenger cars and commercial vehicles of any manufacturer.
The Re.Wi.Re facility is totally digital and paperless, with specific stations for the safe breakdown of components such as tyres, batteries, gasoline, oils, liquids, and gases. The vehicles are subjected to a thorough documentation and disassembly process prior to scrapping, as per the standard operating procedure (SOP) for passenger and commercial vehicles.
Tata Motors is also in the process of setting up another vehicle scrapping facility in the western state of Maharashtra with the capacity to handle 35,000 units of passenger and commercial vehicles per year.
