India’s steel output increases

India's finished steel production rose 7.4 percent year on year to 24.25 million metric tons in April-October 2005. The apparent consumption rose 9.3 percent during the same period. India's steel exports fell 3.46 percent year on year to 2.57 million metric tons in April-October 2005 period. The higher domestic prices compared to international prices contributed to the decline in exports.
