Indian state-run steel producer Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) is seeking global suppliers to import 180,000 mt of low-ash metallurgical (LAM) coke, company sources said on Friday, April 12.

The sourcing of a supplier will be done through competitive bidding for which RINL has already floated a global tender with the deadline for submission of bids set for April 30, the sources said.

The selected supplier will need to complete delivery within three months of selection and issue a letter of intent for a minimum volume of 30,000 mt per shipment.

However, based on bids received, RINL will be able to choose from more than one supplier, the sources added. Domestic suppliers of LAM coke could also bid in the global tender but any offering from them below 30,000 mt will not be accepted by RINL, the sources said.
