Indian steel giant JSW Group’s cement managing director Parth Jindal tweeted on Thursday, July 2, that JSW will cut down $400 million worth of imports from China to zero in the next two years with a #BoycottChina hashtag, following recent military clashes on the India-China border. Sources in the company said the current Chinese imports included machinery parts for its steel, energy, and cement businesses.

Mr. Jindal said in his tweet that ‘the unprovoked attack by the Chinese on Indian soil has been a huge wakeup call and a clarion call’ for this action.

On the other hand, the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) under India’s Ministry of Steel has announced that China emerged as the main destination for Indian steel exports in the April-May period of the current year, as previously reported by SteelOrbis. Also, China accounted for 48 percent of total finished steel exports from India in the given period, according to the data released by the JPC.
