Indians steel company, JSW Limited will construct its 12 million mt per year steel mills project in eastern state of Odisha in phases with work on the first phase with 5 million mt year capacity starting in fiscal 2019-20, a company official said on Wednesday, October 24.
He said that while the basic configuration of the project has been finalized to include a 900 MW captive power plant and a 32 million mt per year iron ore pellet plant apart from the ‘mother’ steel mill, a specialized consultant has been appointed by JSW Limited to firm up the final product mix of the project, factoring in various market demand scenarios.
The JSW project will be constructed at Paradip, Odisha, the site originally allocated to POSCO’s proposed project for a 12 million mt per year steel mill which has been subsequently abandoned by the South Korean steel major.
The Odisha government acquired 2700 acres of land at Paradip for the POSCO project of which 1700 acres has now been transferred to JSW Limited to construct its steel mill, the official added.
