India’s JSW Ltd bags iron ore and manganese block at Odisha auction

Indian steelmaker JSW Limited has bagged the Narayanposi iron ore and manganese block emerging as the preferred bidder at an auction held by the eastern Indian state of Odisha, an Odisha government official said on Monday, February 3.

The official said that the composite block is comprised of an estimated reserve of 187 million mt of iron ore and 0.505 million mt of manganese.

The other bidders in the auction which was concluded on Sunday were Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), ArcelorMittal, Rungta Mines and KJS Ahluwahlia.

Earlier last week, JSW also successfully bid for the Nuagaon iron ore mine in Odisha which has an estimated reserve of 790 million mt.

Both these mines were put up for fresh bidding as their existing mining leases were scheduled to expire on March 31, 2020.
