India’s JSPL seeks additional land for expansion of steel mill

India’s Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has sought 1,000 acres of land for expansion of its steel mill located in the eastern Indian province of Orissa, a company official said on Wednesday, July 1.
 
The official said that additional land will be required for expanding the annual output capacity of the existing steel mill in Angul , Orissa from 2 million metric tons per year to six million metric ton per year.
 
The Orissa government’s promotional agency, Industrial Promotional and Investment Corporation Limited (IPCOL), has already completed an assessment of all land requirement of JSPL and as much as 1,800 acres was acquired for the steel project.
 
The expansion of the steel mill’s capacity to 6 million mt per year will require an additional investment amounting to about $3.17 billion, the company official added.
