India’s finished steel production up 6.9 percent in October

India’s finished steel production during October this year was recorded at 9.35 million mt, up 6.9 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data released by the Ministry of Steel on Wednesday, November 8.

During the April-October period of 2017, the production of finished steel was 61.27 million mt, recording a rise of 5.1 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, the data showed.

However, domestic pig iron production during October 2017 was recorded at 777,000 mt, down 3.1 percent year on year. Pig iron production in the April-October period amounted to 5.35 million mt, or three percent lower year on year, according to the ministry data.
