India’s finished steel output up 3.1 percent in FY 2017-18

Indian production of finished steel in the financial year 2017-18, ended March 31, was recorded at 104.96 million mt, up 3.1 percent year on year, according to a statement issued by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) at India's Ministry of Steel. JPC is the sole official compiler of data of the Indian steel industry.

According to the JPC report, India's steel imports during the financial year 2017-18 amounted to 7.48 million mt, up 3.5 percent from the previous financial year.

India’s steel exports increased by 16.7 percent year on year to 9.62 million mt in FY 2017-18, the JPC report said.
