India’s coking coal imports at ports up 19 percent in April-February

India’s coking coal import volume though all major ports in the country during the April-February period of the fiscal year 2022-23 has been provisionally recorded at 53.87 million mt, up 18.74 percent year on year, data sourced from the Indian Ports Association (IPA) showed on Monday, March 6.

According to calculations made by SteelOrbis, inward shipments of coking coal in February this year worked out at 4.92 million mt, down from 5.70 million mt in January.

The IPA data showed that iron ore freight handled by all major ports, including pellets, during the April-February period has been provisionally recorded at 40.13 million mt, a decline of 11.6 percent year on year.
