Indian steel demand to grow by 7.1 percent in 2019

Indian steel demand will grow by 7.1 percent during the 2019 calendar year and will increase by 7.2 percent in 2020, according to a forecast released by the Indian Steel Association (ISA), the representative body of domestic steel producers.

According to the ISA, domestic steel demand will primarily be driven by sectors like construction, capital goods and state-run Indian Railways.

In absolute terms, the ISA has forecast total domestic steel consumption of 100 million mt in 2019.
