Indian Steel Association names new president

The Indian Steel Association (ISA), the leading body of domestic steel producers in India, has named a new president at an extraordinary board meeting, the association said on Tuesday, May 19. Dilip Oommen, CEO of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has taken the place of former ISA president T V Narendran, CEO and managing director of Tata Steel, who resigned on May 1, months before the scheduled end of his term of duty in August. Mr. Oommen will be ISA president for two years.

Oommen is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-K), and has over 37 years' experience in the steel industry, the ISA noted.
