Indian motor vehicle output up 9.95 percent in March

In March this year, Indian motor vehicle production increased by 9.95 percent year on year to 1,854,157 units, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

In the whole of the last Indian fiscal year (ended March 31), motor vehicle sales in India increased by 3.53 percent compared to the previous fiscal year, due to the growth in scooter and motorcycle sales. In the given year, the country's passenger vehicle sales during the period in question declined by 6.05 percent and the commercial vehicles segment registered a fall of 20.23 percent in sales, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the given fiscal year, India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 7.21 percent year on year. Passenger vehicle exports registered a year-on-year increase of 6.09 percent, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 3.71 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
