Indian mills more than double iron ore imports in April to November period

According to import shipper information, India imported 9.65 million mt of iron ore in the April to November 2018 period (FY 2018), up 158 percent from 3.74 million mt of iron ore in the April to November 2017 period (FY 2017) in the same period.

JSW Steel’s iron ore imports of 7.3 million mt account for 76 percent of the imports in the period. Essar Steel reportedly imported 0.33 million mt (3 percent), Kamachi Group imported 0.26 million mt (3 percent), Jindal SAW imported 0.25 million mt (3 percent), SAL Steel imported 0.19 million mt (2 percent), Welspun imported 0.18 million mt (2 percent), Goa Sponge & Power imported 0.17 million mt (2 percent), MonoSteel imported 0.17 million mt (2 percent), and others imported 0.80 million mt (8 percent).

JSW Steel reportedly imported 0.9 million mt in November.
