Indian import scrap volume down 33.6 percent in Jan-Apr

According to the Indian Ministry of Commerce, scrap imports to India in the Jan-Apr 2017 period declined by 33.6 percent compared to the same four-month period in 2016. Total scrap imports decreased from 2.577 million mt in Jan-Apr 2016 to 1.715 million mt in Jan-Apr 2017. Total Indian scrap imports in March 2017 were 342,572 mt and 419,789 mt in April 2017. Other suppliers for ferrous scrap to India include Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sweden, South Africa, and various EU countries.
