Indian finished steel output up 5.3 percent in Apr-Jan FY 2017-18

India’s total finished steel production rose by 5.3 percent during the April-January period of the fiscal year 2017-18 to 88.6 million mt, compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, a Ministry of Steel report said on Monday, February 12.

According to the ministry report, India's exports of finished steel increased by 40 percent year on year to 8.22 million mt in the April-January period of the fiscal year 2017-18.

Domestic steel consumption was recorded at 72.5 million mt in the given period, up 5.4 percent year on year, the report said.
