Indian officials are reportedly likely to defer for the fourth time retaliatory import duties on 29 US products worth US $235 million, including iron and steel items, until January 31, 2019. The US Trade Representative is expected to visit India soon and further discuss market access for both countries. The US has sought greater market access for manufacturing and farm products, while India has asked greater access for automobile and engineering products. The US has voiced support for India to become a hub for aerospace and military products in association with US companies.
