In the first ten months of the current year, the Ukrainian flat steel producer Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) saw its crude steel production rise by 32.6 percent to 4.585 million mt as compared to the same period last year.
In addition, in January-October this year, Ilyich's finished steel product output went up by 28.6 percent to about 3.2 million mt, its pig iron production increased by 32.2 percent to 3.846 million mt, its agglomerate production grew by 40.2 percent to 9.051 million mt, while its steel pipe output more than doubled to 65,800 mt, all compared to January-October 2009.
In October this year, Ilyich produced 540,000 mt of crude steel - up 17.65 percent, 417,000 mt of finished steel products - up 14.87 percent, 439,000 mt of pig iron - up 19.3 percent, 1.054 million mt of agglomerate - up 24.6 percent, and 5,400 mt of steel pipes - up 20 percent, all compared to September 2010.
On September 16, Ilyich stopped the converter No.1 at its oxygen converter shop for capital repair work. Operations at the repaired unit were resumed on September 25.
