Hoa Phat Group to launch its four blast furnaces in 2019

On April 6, SteelOrbis reported on the accelerated construction of the Hoa Phat Group’s mega complex in Vietnam.

According to updated reports, the Hoa Phat Group is setting-up four greenfield blast furnaces, each with a capacity of 1.2 million mt annual hot metal, to all be operational in 2019.

According to a press release by Danieli, Hoa Phat selected the company for the four greenfield blast furnaces in August 2017.

Hoa Phat plans to start a trial run of the first blast furnace in December 2018 to prepare for its full operation in early 2019. The annual 4.8 million mt capacity of the four furnaces is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2019, thereby raising Hoa Phat’s total capacity to 6.8 million mt annually. It will be second in the country to Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corp which has a total capacity of 7 million mt annually.
