Henan Province to eliminate 10.02 million mt of coal capacity in 2019

China’s Henan Province will shut down five coal mines in the current year to eliminate 5.49 million mt of coal annual capacity, while it will also reduce coal capacity at nine other miners by an aggregate of 4.53 million mt, thus with a total of 10.02 million mt of excess coal capacity being eliminated in 2019, as announced by the Henan provincial authorities.

From 2016 up to the current year, Henan Province has eliminated 52.70 million mt of coal capacity, including shutting down mines with a total annual coal output capacity of 52.25 million mt and reducing capacity at other coal mines by 450,000 mt.
